Transatlantic flights could be on the cards for Cork airport

That's according to Head of Communications at the airport.


Opportunities to operate transatlantic flights at Cork airport are being explored.

That's according to the Head of Communications at the airport who says there's scope to make such flights a success story for Cork.

It comes amid fears for the future of the airport following a 5% decline in passenger numbers last year, the loss of a number of routes and most recently the reduction in frequency of the Cork to Glasgow and Newcastle routes.

However a new study released this week found that Cork has the best connected airport outside of Dublin and contributes €727 million euro to the economy of the South West of Ireland.
