Transport Minister rules out pre-clearance facility for Cork Airport

The Transport Minister has ruled out a pre-clearance facility for transatlantic flights in Cork.

Calls had been made for the service as it's feared Cork will be operating at unfair advantage when it's fights to the U.S take off. 

Both Shannon and Dublin airport offer the service which reduces the delays upon arrival in the U.S.

Norweigan Airlines are to begin operating their flights in Cork from July and  Icelandic airline Wow Air is to commence their U.S and Canadian routes from early next year. 

Shane Ross has said there is no business case for such a service.

Speaking to RedFM News Communications Manager at Cork Airport Kevin Cullinane says despite the lack of pre-clearance facilities the experience for customers will be the same as in any other major airport:
