Transport Minister Urged To Intervene To Secure New Tranatlantic Services From Cork Airport
The Transport Minister is being urged to directly intervene and engage with aviation bodies to secure a new transatlantic link out of Cork.
The call comes after Norwegian Air last night announced it's decision to discontinue all their transatlantic routes from Ireland in September
The airline says the flights out of Cork, Dublin and Shannon are no longer commercially viable due to the global grounding of the Boeing 737 MAX aircraft
All six routes to the US and Canada will be cancelled from September 15th.
Cork Airport say they will now redouble their efforts to secure a new Transatlantic carrier for Cork to operate from Summer 2021 and confirmed they are in active discussions with a number of carriers.
Speaking to RedFM News Fine Gael Senator Jerry Buttimer says a transatlantic link is vital for Cork
