The trauma of homelessness can stay with children into their adult years

That's according to Cork Simon Community who made the comment following the publication of figures which show the number of people in emergency accommodation in Cork and Kerry has reached a record high

672 people were living in emergency accommodation in the region last month which is a 44% increase on last years figures. 

Nationally more that 9,800 people are homeless, with the total number of homeless children in the country now standing at over 3,800.
