Two Cork paramedics set to be recognised at The National Bravery Awards
Two Cork paramedics are being recognised at The National Bravery Awards which will take place in the Dublin on Friday.
Olive Murphy and James Hennessy braved the elements of Storm Ophelia to save the life of an elderly woman who got into difficulty on a remote farm in Ballinascarthy when her supply of supplemental oxygen had been shut off as a result of power cuts.
The pair, who risked their lives in the Storm, used crowbars and hacksaws to clear the roads of debris and fallen trees in order to reach the woman.
They provided pre-hospital care for her before transporting her to Bantry Hospital.
