UCC to sue the ESB for flood damage
UCC is to sue the ESB for 18 million euro for the damage caused to it's buildings in the November 2009 flood The case, will be heard next Summer, and will see UCC claim that the ESB were negligent by releasing too much water from the Inniscarra and Carrigadrohid dams following a month of rain The ESB is denying the claim, saying UCC constructed the buildings on a flood plain and failed to take adequate measures to prevemt flooding Up to 30 witnesses are expected to be called
