US prepares for Hurricane Harvey

Tens of thousands of people are being evacuated from their homes

The life threatening Category 2 storm, which is expected to be upgraded to a Category 3 which it makes landfall, could be the biggest to hit since Hurricane Katrina in August 2005.

Hurricane Harvey is threatening to bring 12 foot storm surges, 125mph winds and devastating floods.

Louisiana and Texas have declared states of disaster and thousands of people have been evacuated  while 700 members of the National Guard have been drafted in.

Joe McCombe is the Mayor of Corpus Christi along the southern Texas coast where Harvey is expected to make landfall first.
