Vicky Phelan Is Calling For A Criminal Investigation Into The Cervical Check Programme

It's after it emerged that 162 women with Cervical Cancer were not told they were part of a review of the cervical Check programme and they could have benefited from earlier intervention

Vicky Phelan, is now terminally ill, and just last week she settled a case with a US lab after she was wrongly told that she had no abnormality in a 2011 smear test.

The Government is set to announce a statutory investigation today into the Cervical Check programme, after 17 women of the 208 who were part of the audit into the Cervical Check programme, have died

The Health Minister is under pressure to release a memo he was given about the issue before Vicky Phelan took her case.
The memo reportedly indicated women were not automatically being given the results of their smear audits.

Speaking on the Neil Prendeville Show on Cork's RedFM Vicky Phelan says she wants an independent investigation launched as she believes her case was a cover up
