Voters Have Been Going To The Polls In The Local And European Elections Since 7am

Turnout in Cork has been described as slow and steady this lunchtime

Voters have been going to the polls in the Local and European Elections since 7am.

There's also a referendum in relation to divorce, and a plebiscite on directly elected mayors in Cork, Limerick and Waterford

Turnout in Cork has been described as slow and steady this lunchtime but most polling stations expect to see a rush around teatime

Cork City Council has already advised voters of the possibility of queues at some polling stations at peak voting times due to the 4 polls taking place and the record number of candidates involved

As a result it's expected the sorting of votes at Nemo, which will begin early tomorrow morning, may take a little longer and counting is not expected to begin at City Hall until early evening
