War of words erupts over travel to Zika hit zones

People advised that their travel insurance will not be effective unless a travel ban is declared.

People travelling to the countries affected by the Zika virus are being advised that their travel insurance will not be effective unless a travel ban is declared 

That's the advice of the Irish Travel Agents Association which says they're closely watching the situation but they don't expect the status to be upgraded anytime soon.. 

At the moment the advice from the Department of Foreign Affairs is to be aware of the risks of the virus, and to take the appropriate precautions if visiting Central and South America and the Caribbean.

However Minister Charlie Flanagan is urging pregnant women and women who are trying to become pregnant to consider postponing their travel to affected areas and to consult with their healthcare provider before they travel...
