Water protests are beginning to divide local communities in Cork

Tensions are mounting in two housing estates this morning as gardaí try to maintain peace between Irish Water workers and anti-water charge protesters. 

A number of anti-water campaigners have arrived in Clareville Estate in Ballyphehane to support residents there who are refusing to allow metering work to be carried out.

Elsewhere in nearby Westview Estate relations between residents themselves have disintegrated as five properties have given Irish Water the green light to carry out metering.

Speaking to RedFM News a very emotional Rose Burns of the Turners Cross Says No group says she's heartbroken that some of her neighbours have backed down and she's ashamed to call herself Irish:
