West Cork Woman Jailed For Her Part In "Cocaine Factory" Has Sentence Reduced

A 26 year old West Cork woman who was jailed for seven years for her part in a cocaine extraction operation has had her sentence reduced on appeal today.

Molly Sloyan from Abbey Court, Kinsale was sentenced to ten years in jail with three suspended when she appeared in court last year.

Meanwhile, a West Cork RNLI volunteer who was jailed for seven years when he was caught with over €260,000 worth of drugs has also had his jail time reduced on appeal today. 

Liam O'Connell was Cox of the RNLI's Kinsale Lifeboat Ms Sally Anne Baggy and was involved in the rescue of 30 sailing students from the tall ship, Astrid in 2013.

But last November, O'Connell pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis, cocaine and ecstasy worth €269,000 for sale or supply.

At a hearing today, O'Connell's sentence was increased to eleven years but the final five years have been suspended
