Woman in her 90s sustains serious injuries in North Cork crash

A woman in her 90's sustained serious injuries in a crash between between Mallow General Hospital and Newtwopothouse around lunchtime today
The collision involving a car and a small pick up truck happened shortly before 1pm
The elderly woman was rushed by ambulance from the scene to Cork University Hospital
Gardai have confirmed to RedFM News, that the woman in her 90's sustained serious injuries in the crash. The driver of the small pick up truck was not injured
A section of the N20 is closed as a result to allow for a forensic collision investigation of the scene
Gardai are advising motorists that the road from Newtwopothouse to Mallow town is closed to HGV's coming from both directions, while cars coming from Cork can proceed to Hospital Cross where a diversion is in operation and cars coming from Limerick to Mallow need to turn left through Doneraile
It's expected the road will remain closed and the diversions in operation for a number of hours
