Women's Aid call for greater sanctioning of abuse against women

The charity are calling for sanctioning of abuse both by the courts and the community at large

It comes after Celebrity Big Brother star Jeremy McConnell was found guilty of assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Hollyoaks actress, Stephanie Davis earlier this month.

Since his court appearance, McConnell has been publicy praised by his friends on social media and has posted Instagram pictures endorsing a tooth whitening product.

Director of Women's Aid, Margaret Martin, is concerned about the message that this kind of behaviour sends out.
