Alan Cadogan says he's delighted to be back on the field with Cork

The Douglas clubman returned in Sunday's win over Limerick, coming on as a sub for the injured Conor Lehane.

It was Cadogan's first Cork appearance since August of 2017, in the Rebels' defeat to Waterford in Croke Park. The 26 year old went on to score three points from play as the Rebels reignited their summer with a seven point win over the All Ireland Champions at the LIT Gaelic Grounds.

"It's nice to get back on the field, but more importantly we got two points on the board," Cadogan told RedFM sport at the 2019 Feile Launch at Nemo Rangers last night.

"Obviously I had picked up a few injuries, and it's nice to get back playing. But it's just two points on the board. It's nothing to be jumping around about - we'll keep our feet firmly on the ground. There are huge challenges ahead, and the Munster Championship can throw up anything. 

"We saw that on Sunday. Tipperary won, Limerick now have to go to Waterford, Waterford have to come to play us, it's a battlefield out there. We know ourselves that we have a lot to work on. Sunday wasn't the finished article, so we'll draw a line under it, we'll go back training, regroup and go again."

Cork now have a three week break until they face Waterford in Páirc uí Chaoimh on June 8th. Cadogan doesn't think the lengthy gap will have any adverse effect on their preparations.

"This week we'll get back on the training field, and look back at the Limerick game, what worked well and what didn't, and how we need to improve. The most important thing is that we don't slacken off, and I don't think we will because we have an excellent group of players there, and we know what needs to be done over the next three weeks for another huge challenge against Waterford."

Sunday was the first time Alan lined out with his brother Eoin in a Cork shirt, and Alan says it was a proud moment for their family.

"Yeah he mentioned that to me last night!  Between picking up my injury, Eoin coming back into the panel, this year in the league picking up bits of injuries, missing the Tipp game due to a hamstring injury... it was nice to line out on the same field with him, it was nice for my club Douglas and also for my parents as well, so it was a happy day for them."
