Alan Kelly steps down as goalkeeping coach

Alan Kelly has confirmed his departure as Republic of Ireland goalkeeping coach. 

The 52 year old has blamed the COVID-19 pandemic as his reason for stepping away. 

Kelly follows Damien Duff in leaving Stephen Kenny's backroom team ten weeks before the World Cup qualifiers.

Kelly will remain as Everton's goalkeeping coach.

Wycombe's Daryl Horgan says there was nothing in the 'videogate' controversy, and the former Cork City winger wonders if there are agendas against Stephen Kenny at play. 

"In a way football never ceases to amaze, with the stuff that does go on. 

"It was one of those storm in a teacup type things - it was a nice easy one for people who wanted to put the boot in on Stephen Kenny because the results hadn't been great, and this was another little kick when he was down.

"Towards the end of the Martin O'Neill era there was a lot of stuff that was held until the opportune moment and then unleashed on him."
