Aldo OUT of McGregor Bout, Mendes In

Aldo's Rib Injury Forces the Brazilian Out
{POLL_2}
It's the news that no one wanted to hear.
Jose Aldo is OUT of his bout with Conor McGregor.
The Brazilian injured a rib in training last week, and although UFC doctors have cleared the featherweight champion to fight and say it's a bruised rib, not fractured, Aldo's coach Andre Pederneiras says it's too painful and that his fighter won't be able to compete.
Aldo will be replaced by Chad Mendes, and that bout at UFC 189 will now be for the UFC Interim Featherweight title.
Dana White and Conor McGregor appeared on ESPN to confirm the news, and you can watch it here.
Personally, I would have preferred McGregor v Frankie Edgar (I love me some Frankie Edgar), but it's not to be. UFC 189 has just gone from "must watch TV" to "I'll record it and watch it when I get up instead". Ah well.
And as for what McGregor thinks of Mendes, this is from October, but it's still gold.
