Cork schoolboys team speak out against racist incident

Two coaches of a Cork schoolboys soccer club have spoken out about a fine imposed on them for what they say was a stand against racism on the pitch. Carrigaline United soccer club was fined €200 for refusing to continue playing a game after one of their players was racially abused. The club has issued a statement on the press coverage of the alleged racist incident. It says it fully supports manager Mark McCarthy's moral decision to withdraw the team to protect their player from this type of behaviour. The club claims racist comments are on the rise as identified by the league, and they generally support their stand on the matter. Carrigaline United says the decision by the Cork Schoolboy League disciplinary committee is an internal matter for their club so therefore they will be making no further comment on the matter AUDIO: Fiona O'Donovan has the story for RedFM News.
