Cork's John O'Shea wins BDO Masters title

John O'Shea made history on Sunday night as he won the BDO Masters title.
The Corkman defeated Scott Waites at the Circus Tavern to be crowned champion and take home a winners cheque of £18,000.
The win means that O'Shea has booked his place at the BDO World Darts Championship in the O2 in London in early January.
"World Masters champion! Sound! Brilliant", is how O'Shea reacted in the immediate aftermath. Three weeks ago I probably thought I was going to pack it in. I thought I coudln't throw. My leg was in trouble. But I got it sorted. It still wasn't 100% because I kept going over on the leg. I'm absolutely drained!"
The 44 year old as ranked 219 heading into the tournament, but is now up to 59.
O'Shea battled with Waites in the final, a double ten securing a 6-4 victory for the Joker.
