Feidhlim Kelly on Olive Loughnane and Rob Heffernan

Bitter-sweet news for Olive Loughnane yesterday. It was confirmed that Olga Kaniskina, the winner of the 20k walk at the European Championships in Berlin in 2009 is one five Russian race walkers who have been suspended for irregularities in their biological passports. The Cork athlete finished second in that race, and is now set to be retrospectively awarded a gold medal. Rob Heffernan meanwhile has to wait to see if he'll be awarded a bronze medal for the 50k walk in the Olympics. The Togher AC athlete finished fourth, however the gold medal winner Sergei Kirdyapkin has also been hit with suspension. However, and this is where things get ever so slightly ludicrous, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency has decided Kirdyapkin's ban doesn't affect results from June to October of 2012 - meaning the Olympic result isn't affected. But, according to the report on Jumping-The-Gun.com and the Irish Examiner - click PLAY above. https://twitter.com/OliveLoughnane/status/557653596784066562
