Healy hails improvement as City look to avoid relegation

Cork City interim boss Colin Healy says he can seen an improvement in his side as they prepare to face Sligo Rovers in their penultimate league game of the season.

With just two games left to go City are a point behind second from bottom Finn Harps in their battle to avoid relegation - Harps though have two games in hand and face Bohemians at Dalymount Park on Saturday night.

City turned in an excellent performance at home to Waterford last Saturday, but couldn't take all three points.

And Healy wants to convert their improved performances into wins. 

"The boys were focussed coming into training this morning, they were good, they were sharp in windy conditions, so we're focussed and getting ready for Saturday.

"The boys have trained well, the confidence is up. We performed well the other night, we didn't get the three points that we were looking for, we'll go up and we'll put in a good performance against Sligo.

"Since I've come in the boys have been fantastic. Training's been good, there's been a good tempo to training and performances are getting better. We need to get points on the board as quick as we can and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.

"The Showgrounds is always a tough place to go. We'll watch them during the week, we'll put a gameplan together, we'll show that to the players and hopefully we can get the three points on Saturday.

"It's always a tough game up there and we have to be ready for them. They have a good manager and good attacking players. We know what they're about and we'll be ready for them."
