Healy wants players to give their all as Cork City bid to avoid relegation

Cork City interim boss Colin Healy is demanding his players give everything they have as the club looks to avoid relegation to the first division.

City go into tonight's game with Dundalk at Turner's Cross rooted to the bottom of the table, two points behind second from bottom Finn Harps with just four games left to play.

Healy took temporary charge last week following the departure of Neale Fenn on Thursday, with City losing 3-0 away to Bohemians the following day.

Healy says it was always going to be tough against Bohemians, but is hoping more time with the players on the training field will pay dividends tonight.

"We had one day with the lads at training ahead of the game with Bohemians, and everybody knows Bohs are a good side, they have been for years. 

"It's very difficult going up there anyway, but it was difficult for us to go up there that night. But I thought we did ok, we gave away some silly goals. Now we have Dundalk on Tuesday night, which is going to be a very difficult night, and players have to be ready for it.

"I put in some young lads [against Bohs], there might be some changes again on Tuesday night, we just have to see how training goes.

"What I want is players who are going in who are going to give everything for the club, and give everything for themselves, that's all I ask. If somebody comes in, give 100%, and that's what we need from now until the end of the season.

"People play well, you stay in the team, people perform well in training you've a chance to get into the team. Just because I played three or four lads, it doesn't mean they're going to start again.

"I need people to show me in training that they want to play, that they want to get in the team. And when you get in the team, put in a performance and stay in the team.

"Everybody wants to play, nobody wants to sit on the bench or in the stand. When you come in, go and perform and keep the jersey.

"Just because I played a few lads the other night doesn't mean they're going to play again Tuesday night. We have to sit down as a coaching staff and pick a team that is right to go and face Dundalk."
