Interviews: JBM & Anthony Nash on Cork Captaincy
Anthony Nash has been confirmed as the new Cork Captain for 2015. Jimmy Barry Murphy and his selectors announced the appointment ahead of their Canon O'Brien Cup victory over UCC last night. The Kanturk All Star suceeds Patrick Cronin, who requested to step back from the Captaincy in order to concentrate on his own playing career. JBM has paid tribute to the contribution made by the Bishopstown clubman in guiding the Cork Seniors to the All Ireland finals in 2013, before lifting the Cup as the Rebels claimed the Munster title in Pairc Ui Chaoimh last summer. Click PLAY above to hear from Cork Manager Jimmy Barry Murphy, and Nash himself, on getting the Skippers role. Tune into the Big Red Bench on Saturday from 6pm to hear the rest of that Interview with Anthony Nash in which he discusses Cork's progress at this stage in their pre-season, as well as the rule changes implemented by the Hurling 2020 Committee this week, in particular the one on one penalty coming into play after the "Nash" style of striking caused so much debate in 2014. We'll also have reaction after Cork's Waterford Crystal Cup opener against UL on Saturday, the team news for which you can get here. (Anthony Nash picture via gaacork.ie )
