McGrath Cup - Cork 1-15 CIT 0-11

Cork got their competitive season off to a good start today with a 1-15 to 11 point win over CIT in the McGrath Cup. The Rebels always had that extra bit of quality and led by 0-08 to 0-04 at half time. The game was pretty much ended as a contest early in the second half when Donncha O'Connor scored a goal and a point in a minute to give Cork a seven point lead which they kept until the final whistle. The only blemish was the sending off of Paul Kerrigan with three minutes left for two yellow cards. Cork now go on to play Tipperary in the next round next weekend. Cork scorers Donncha O'Connor (1-1), Colm O'Neill (0-4), Paul Kerrigan, Odhran Mulrooney (0-02 each), Conor O'Driscoll, Seán Kiely, Pearse O'Neill, Andrew O'Sullivan, Liam Shorten (0-1 each).
