Páirc uí Chaoimh pitch to be replaced

The much criticised playing surface at Páirc uí Choaimh is to be replaced.
Cork GAA Chairperson Tracey Kennedy last night confirmed to RedFM Sport that the pitch is to be completely relaid after the completion of the Munster Championships.
In the meantime, remedial work will be done on the surface ahead of Cork's clash with Tipperary on May 12th in the Munster Hurling Championship.
"The board has taken the decision to initiate immediate remedial works to get us to the [Munster] Championships", said Kennedy.
"Once the Championship season is over there will be a full replacement of the playing surface, and other work needed to bring it up to standard.
"We're out there now looking for the right contractors for the process, but the decision [to replace the pitch] has been taken, and hopefully by next year we'll have a playing surface that we can be proud of.
"There's going to be a lot of work in terms of design and so on to come up with the exact right solution for the pitch we have here, the parameters we have with things like the height of the stand, the light, the drainage and all of that."
Kennedy also revealed that the pitch may be ready for October's county finals.
"There is a possibility depending on the type of pitch that will be laid that we could be back in action for the county finals. However our priority is to get the pitch right for 2020. If we can play the county finals here well and good, but if we can't we have a fantastic facility in Páirc uí Rinn.
"The most important thing is we have a perfect pitch on the first of January 2020."
