After a long wait Euro 2016 gets underway this evening as hosts France take on Romania.

Kick off is at 8 in Stade De France

France are well fancied to win the trophy - as they've done so in the last two major tournaments they've hosted.

The Ireland team have been given the day off.

Manager Martin O'Neill has decided to cancel today's scheduled training session in order to give his squad some extra recovery time ahead of Monday's Group D showdown with Sweden.

In golf Graeme McDowell and Padraig Harrington will be disappointed with their opening rounds at the FedEx St. Jude Classic yesterday.

McDowell sits on 3-over par, while Harrington started his week with a disappointing 7-over par 77.
