UCC Awarded Munster Senior League Title Following Appeal
UCC have been crowned Munster Senior League champions for the 2013/2014 season at the expense of Avondale United, following an appeal. UCC's appeal centered around their game with Leeds last November which finished 1-1, with Leeds fielding an ineligble player in that game. UCC have now been awarded a 3-0 win, and the three points that go with that mean that they finish on 42 points, one ahead of Avondale. Earlier in the season Everton were awarded all three points from their game with Leeds, due to Leeds fielding an ineligible player in that game as well. UCC played Avondale in the final game of the season, however Avondale were 4 points clear and played a weakened side, assuming that the league was already won, with UCC winning the game 4-1. Avondale were presented with the league trophy after the game. PunditArena.com broke the story last night. Their co-founder Richard Barrett spoke to us about the situation - Click PLAY above
