Third Ever BRIT Awards Icon Award Winner Announced
The 2017 BRIT Icon award is the highest accolade there is in the British recording industry.
The award is given to artist who make a lasting impact on culture through their performances and music.
This time around the Icon award is to be presented to Robbie Williams as a solo artist and as a member of boyband Take That.
Only two other artists have been honoured with the award before Williams. Elton John and David Bowie are the only other performers to receive the prestigious Icon title. In a statement Robbie said “The BRIT Awards are very special to me. I’m humbled to be receiving the 18th of my career next month.”

Robbie announced he will play a special show on November 7th to celebrate the news which will be then televised in December on ITV as a 90 minute special.
Williams has enjoyed a successful career both in Take That and out on his own, selling over 18 million solo albums in Britain and 55 million worldwide. The artist has racked up an impressive seven UK number 1 singles and eleven number 1 albums. The only other artist to do this was Elvis Presley.
Robbie will release his eleventh studio album Heavy Entertainment Show on November 4th.
