Chilly Gonzales Apologises to Hozier After Plagiarism Claims

The story has been in the news the past few days.

Hozier has been in the news the past few days and not for the right reasons.

Musician Chilly Gonzales, whose real name is Jason Beck, recently made claims that Hozier's major hit, "Take Me To Church" is a plagiarism of a track by Feist called "How Come You Never Go There" that appeared on her 2011 album, "Metals", with Gonzales even saying "Maybe Feist should take him to court".

Since Beck made the accusation, Hozier threatened legal action himself, implying that he would sue Gonzales for defamation. This threat has seemed to make Gonzales back down with a comparison video being removed from online followed by an apology to the Wicklow native.

In a statement on Hozier's Facebook page, he clarified that he received an apology from the Canadian musician and producer:

"There has been some talk in the press of legal action and I'd like to clarify my position and the goings-on of the past week for fear that gossip runs unchecked, as it often does. What was sought from my end was an apology and redaction of an unfair inferral. This has been issued by Jason Beck (Chilly Gonzales), which I very much appreciate. I will continue to follow and respect his work and look forward to moving on from this issue. Jason Beck has been co-operative and understanding, and there are no hard feelings on my part.
Thank you.
Andrew Hozier-Byrne".
