Don McClean Is Coming To Cork!
Don McClean has announced two Irish gigs!
Today acclaimed singer-songwriter DON McLEAN announced that he will play the National Opera House Wexford on 29th May 2018 and Live at the Marquee Cork on 14th June 2018. Tickets for both dates go on sale this Monday 4th December at 9am.
Born in New Rochelle, NY, Don McLean is renowned for his multiple hits including American Pie (which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and named the fifth greatest song of the 20th Century by the NEA-RIAA), And I Love You So, Empty Chairs and Vincent.
Awards and accolades throughout his career have included, being inaugurated into the National Academy of Popular Music Songwriters’ Hall of Fame in 2004 and awarded the BBC Folk Music Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.
In 2011 Don performed on the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival (“The veteran singer-songwriter's take on "American Pie" , with multiple extra choruses, was another heartwarming, communal high” – The Independent). In 2014 Don performed for 30,000 at the Stagecoach Festival – one of the premier country music events in the US. According to the Daily News “the audience went wild, screaming, jumping, dancing. Even after the song was over, the audience still lingered, basking in the afterglow of the performance”
Tickets for Don McLean Live at the Marquee Cork and the National Opera House Wexford, go on sale this Monday 4th December at 9am and will be available from ticketmaster.ie
