First Dates Ireland returns tonight but it is a little different!

The hit RTÉ show will return to RTÉ 2 tonight at 9:30 pm just in time for Valentine’s Day with a new group of hopeful singles looking for love.
However, things will be very different. This series will be like never before due to COVID-19 with some major changes to the dater’s experiences.
In the previous series, it is traditional for the two daters to sit closely at the bar as they break the ice. However, with the 2 metre social distancing rule is in place - there is a bit more space between daters and that also applies to the dinner table. All daters will be suitably distanced, with no physical contact allowed and even the background daters are friends and family of the daters who are in their ‘bubbles’. At the end of the date, the usual question will be asked ‘do you want to see each other again’’ however this time the daters will be separated by a perplexed shield for the moment of truth.
Along with these changes, this series will also have some familiar faces including Dancing With The Stars and Big Brother star Hughie Maughan who will appear on episode two, which will air on the 18th of February.
Even though the dates are a little different, the hopeful singles on the show are still determined to find romance and have fun.
