ITV officially announce a new series of Love Island for this year

ITV has confirmed in an interview this morning that a new series of Love Island will be back on our screens this year.
This announcement has come as a surprise as ITV previously stated that 2022 would be the earliest there would be a new season. However, with the rapid roll-out of vaccines in the UK, it seems they will be able to film a new season sooner.
Taking to Twitter, Scott Bryan of ITV revealed "ITV has confirmed that a new series of Love Island will air later this year. No details yet on exactly when, or where it will be.
ITV's Kevin Lygo issued the following statement: "Love Island will return this summer. The team are working on every contingency plan manageable, so look out for more announcement on that very soon."
It's not yet known who will host the new series of Love Island, as Laura Whitmore who is the current presenter is pregnant with her first child with husband Iain Stirling, who provides the reality show's hilarious voiceover.
