Ken Barlow To Learn Of Deirdre's Death On Tonight's Coronation Street

The heartbreaking scenes will air tonight.
Following the death of Anne Kirkbride in January of this year, the news of her character Deirdre's death will hit the cobbles tonight.
Anne, who played Deirdre for more than 40 years, sadly lost her cancer battle in January, aged 60. Since then, writers have been trying to come up with a fitting way to bid farewell to the character.
Ken Barlow (Bill Roache) will hear the heatbreaking news that his wife Deirdre has died this afternoon from her best friend Bev when she calls over to Number 1 Coronation Street just as Ken, Tracy and Audrey are about to head out to a party for Deirdre.
The news will be announced to the rest of the Coronation Street residents at a party at the Rovers Return, organised to celebrate Deirdre's return from her extended cruise.
Funeral scenes for Deirdre will air next Monday night.
You can catch Coronation Street on UTV Ireland at 7:30pm.
