The RedFM Noel Gallagher Top 10

This wasn't easy!

Some tough deicsions were made, but we here in RedFM have finally chosen our top 10 Noel Gallagher songs ahead of his performance at Live At The Marquee tomorrow night.

After much debate we decided on the following Oasis and High Flying Birds songs.

10. Stay Young

Number 10 in our list is an acoustic version of Stay Young. This song featured as a B-Side on the single "D'ya Know What I Mean?". It has become a popular Oasis song, so much so that fans voted it onto the B-sides collection The Masterplan - one of only two B-sides from the Be Here Now period which made the album.

9. The Importance Of Being Idle

One of Oasis later releases from their sixth album, Don't Believe The Truth, comes The Importance Of Being Idle in 9th position. The song debuted at number one in the UK charts and would be the band's last number one before parting ways. The video stars Rhys Ifans and pays homage to the style of early 1960s kitchen sink drama British films.

8. The Ballad Of The Mighty I

The Ballad Of The Mighty I is the first song from the Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds on our list. The song comes from their most recent album, Chasing Yesterday.

7. Little By Little

Released in 2002, Little By Little comes from Oasis' fifth studio album, Heathen Chemistry. The song peaked at Number 2 in the UK Charts.

6. Half The World Away

Half The World Away takes 6th position in our list. The song appears on The Masterplan album from 1994. The track was originally released as a B-Side to the track Whatever which reached number 3 in the UK Charts. The song gained mass public exposure when it was selected by Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash to be the theme tune to their sitcom The Royle Family. The series revolved around the sitting room of a lazy working-class family and was set in Manchester, the hometown of Oasis.

5. Lock All The Doors

Lock All The Doors is another track from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Bird and comes from the album Chasing Yesterday.

4. Talk Tonight

Talk Tonight is another B-Side track that has made our list. The track appeared as a B-Side to Some Might Say in 1995. It also appears on the compilation album, The Masterplan. It was inspired by the near-breakup of the band in Los Angeles in autumn 1994, when Noel walked out without telling anyone and headed for San Francisco. He stayed with a girl he had befriended during a previous show there.

3. In The Heat Of The Moment

In The Heat Of The Moment is the top song from Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. It was the last song written for the album Chasing Yesterday but was the first single released from it in 2014.

2. Don't Look Back In Anger

It's safe to say that Don't Look Back In Anger is one of Oasis' biggest anthems. The song, released in 1996, was the fifth single from the classic album, What's The Story, Morning Glory. The song was the first Oasis single to be released with Noel as the lead vocalist. It was ranked number one on a list of the '50 Most Explosive Choruses' by the NME, and was voted as the fourth most popular single of the last 60 years in the UK by the public in conjunction with the Official Charts Company's 60th anniversary. It is Oasis's third biggest selling single in the UK with sales of 900,000, going Platinum in the process.

1. The Masterplan

Here it is! Our favourite Noel Gallagher track! This song was actually a B-Side to Oasis' biggest single, Wonderwall. Perhaps this fact is what propelled the popularity of the song and brought it to people's attention. Noel Gallagher has regularly admitted that The Masterplan is the best song he's ever written even though he was "young and stupid". The song is supported by an orchestra which adds that little bit extra to the song to give you those goosebumps!
